BNN SUMMIT

Reach A Hand Uganda, in partnership with Planned Parenthood Global and other organizations including SRHR Alliance, Development Dynamics Kenya, SAMASHA, KYETUME, Awesome Minds Speak, and Mr. and Miss Ability, successfully hosted the second edition of the Billi Now Now (BNN) Youth Summit from June 3rd–6th, 2024.
The 3-day summit brought together 260 young people from 9 countries, including Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Benin, Senegal, South Sudan, Burkina Faso, and Latin America, to exchange ideas, reflect on youth-led SRHR advocacy, and make country-specific commitments towards achieving Agenda 2063.
Key Highlights

A cultural tour of Kampala and a powerful screening of "Sabotage", a film tackling sexual violence and unsafe abortions among young people.

Movement-building sessions on Advocacy, Climate Justice and Health, Mental Health, and youth engagement with Agenda 2063.

A landmark policy commitment by Hon. Evelyn Anite, State Minister for Finance, to support a tax exemption on raw materials for sanitary pad production in Uganda.

A strategic PPG dinner with 70 partners and stakeholders reinforcing cross-sector collaboration.

Submission of a joint letter to the Minister on menstrual health in Uganda as a step toward policy change.

BNN SUMMIT

Backing BRAVE B!ll!s towards Agenda 2063 Goals on Health and Prosperity: Intersectionality, Resourcing & Accountability
From June 27th to 31st, 2023, Reach A Hand Uganda hosted the inaugural Billi Now Now (BNN) Youth Summit in Kampala. The summit brought together 30 young leaders (“Billis”) from Uganda, Kenya, Burkina Faso, Senegal, Benin, Ethiopia, and South Sudan to explore how youth-led movements can drive progress toward Agenda 2063, with a focus on SRHR, accountability, and youth prosperity.

Development of the BNN Manifesto, Voice, and Brand

Cross-country engagement and knowledge exchange

Participation in RAHU-led activities like peer learning sessions and community film screenings

A strong digital presence using hashtags #BilliNowNow and #IamBrave
The summit served as a powerful space for learning, co-creation, and connection, building a united, Pan-African youth movement committed to advancing sexual and reproductive health and rights.
